About :

Talking History is a documentary series on Rajya Sabha TV charting the past of fabulous Indian cities and their history. In this episode we talk about the foundation of Shahjahanabad, loosely known as Old Delhi or Puraani Dilli now. The city was built by Mughal emperor Shahjahan after he shifted the mughal capital from Agra to Delhi in 1639 AD. By then, the Mughals had already established themselves in rule as well art and architecture. In the city of Shahjahanabad, the remnants of that era could be seen preserved in its havellis, nesteled in the narrow lanes, glittering markets and cuisine, which is tipped to be straight from the royal kitchen. Besides the royal palace in Red Fort, popular boulevard Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Lal Mandir, Fatehpuri Masjid, string of mansions for the nobles and markets were build when Shahjahan had commissioned the city in the mid 17th century.
